Tamamie was founded in 2014 by Dr. Nathaniel Payne (PhD in Artificial Intelligence, University of British Columbia; Master's in Computer Science, Georgia Institute of Technology) and Dr. Reynold Duclas Jr. (MD, University of Miami Miller School of Medicine; Master's in Computer Science, Georgia Institute of Technology). Their initial collaboration aimed to solve foundational issues across the healthcare ecosystem, from clinical care and data management to billing and administrative efficiency.

Their first innovation was an adaptive, web-based Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system meticulously aligned with real-world clinical workflows. Unlike conventional EMRs that overwhelm clinicians with cumbersome interfaces and excessive information, Tamamie's solution was designed around how medical professionals naturally think and operate. Dr. Duclas, leveraging his direct clinical experience, conducted extensive testing in hospital settings, ensuring the system effectively reduced cognitive load and improved clinical efficiency, ultimately cutting clinician data retrieval time by over 35%.
